Multicam vs Woodland Camo: The General Differences
A plain-language look at how Multicam-style and woodland-style camouflage patterns differ in look and color, and how to wear each as everyday clothing.
Two different looks
Woodland-style camo uses bold, high-contrast blobs of green, brown, black, and tan. It is the pattern most people picture when they hear the word camo.
Multicam-style patterns use softer, blended shapes in tans, browns, and muted greens, designed to look less blocky. MultiCam® is a registered trademark of its owner; on clothing, “multicam” is often used loosely to describe the look.
On clothing, it is about style
Concealment performance depends on fabric, printing, and environment, and lifestyle apparel is not tested for that. Choose the pattern for the color palette you like: woodland reads classic and green; multicam-style reads earthy and modern.
How to wear each
Woodland works with black, olive, and denim. Multicam-style works with tan, khaki, black, and gray. In both cases keep the camo to one piece of the outfit.
